We often find ourselves talking about how we can care for our elderly loved ones and help them in any way we can. But an elderly couple have given us at Careline a reminder of how much elderly people have to give back.
The following story shows just how much wisdom, advice, and kindness our elders have that we often take for granted.
Elderly couple help young man
A caring elderly couple were at the train station in Atlanta, when they stopped to help a young man. Another commuter managed to capture the tender moment. The young man, one of many commuters, was sat at the station struggling to tie his tie before work. The elderly women spotted him struggling and asked the young man if he knew how to tie it properly. When he replied that he didn’t she asked her husband to go and help him with his tie.

Get to know elderly people
Not only did the elderly couple help the young man tie his tie that day, but the elderly man taught him how to tie his own tie so that he has the skills in the future. The elderly couple made sure that the young man couple repeat the process himself before they left him.
This story really is a reminder of all the good things we could be missing out on when we don’t say “hello” to our neighbours, or ask how someone’s day is when sat next to them on the bus. So the next time you see someone in a different generation to you, see it as an opportunity to share experiences and start a conversation. You never know what you may learn!
