There comes a point in many of our lives where getting around just isn’t as easy as it once was. Despite the increased struggle, this shouldn’t stop you from doing daily activities and maintaining your independence. Many people turn to mobility aids to help them get about more easily and ensure their quality of life doesn’t decline.
With technology advancing every day, developments are always being released. Mobility scooters were originally very heavy and slow pieces of equipment. Thankfully, this is no longer the case. Mobility scooters now allow you to move around much more easily than ever before.
If the time has come where you or a loved one requires a little extra assistance when moving around, then this blog is the perfect place to start. We have put together a list of five of the top mobility scooters.
1.) Pride Go Go Mobility Scooter – From £999*
The Pride Go Go is a great first mobility scooter. It is a standard class 2 scooter, with a comfortable speed of 4mph. This scooter is designed for convenience, as it has an easy dismantling design. This means you can very easily break it down into 4 different components, so it will fit comfortably in a car boot or when travelling by plane. This scooter comes with two battery options. The larger of the two is 18AH and gives you the battery life to travel up to 10.4 miles.
2.) Rascal Veo Sport – From £1,029*
This Rascal Veo Sport is another mobility scooter that can be disassembled for ease of transport. Though slightly pricier than the Pride Go Go, this scooter can travel up to an additional 3 miles on a single charge compared to that model. What's more, this model of mobility scooter offers additional comfort while travelling, with full front and rear suspension.
3.) MWay Portable Mobility Scooter – From £895*
This scooter is perfect for those looking for a compact scooter to use both at home and whilst out and about. This is a class 2 scooter, meaning that its maximum speed is 4mph, so can safely be used alongside pedestrians and is extremely easy to operate. The armrest and seats are both flexible on this scooter, making it comfortable during usage and simple to get on and off. This is arguably the best value for money, as it has many attractive features, as well as an attractive price.
4.) Sterling Sapphire 2 Travel Mobility Scooter – From £1,259*
One of the best features of this scooter is how well it travels on surfaces. This scooter is great on paths and easy to manage, especially if space is limited. This mobility scooter is slightly more durable than some similar models. It simply folds in half if you need to transport it. The Sterling Sapphire has some of the best legroom for a grade 2 scooter, meaning you can be completely comfortable whilst using it. A single charge can last a distance of 19 miles, meaning you can enjoy many trips without charging.
5.) Green Power 3 Wheeler Retro Mobility Scooter – From £1,690*
This scooter is slightly different to the previous options, and can be seen as slightly more "stylish". This mobility scooter is more upmarket and boasts a slightly higher price. The Green Power is a class 3 scooter, allowing it to travel at 8mph. Fully charged, this mobility scooter can last for 45 miles and can handle inclines and hilly areas without any problem. What makes the Green Power scooter extra special is that it is made by utilising green technology, which does not pollute the environment and is free of any toxic gas.
Mobility scooters are excellent for people who are struggling to get around. However, they are expensive and can set you back anywhere up to a thousand pounds, or even more. Before purchasing a scooter, it may be advisable to rent one. This allows you to test a few out and see how you or your loved one get on with it, before purchasing one. Mobility scooters can be rented from several different trusted companies such as Mobility Giant.
