With a Careline alarm, there is no need to worry about finding the equipment hard to use. Our alarm service comes with two simple devices: the alarm base unit and the pendant button. In this article, we will explain exactly how to use the Careline alarm.

Careline Alarm Base Unit

Our alarm units can be setup within a few minutes, either by the alarm user themselves or by a loved one. Please read our guide to installing the alarm for further information. There are three buttons on the unit which can all be used differently. There is also a loudspeaker and a built-in microphone, which allows clear communication between the alarm user and our monitoring team.

How do I use my Careline Alarm?

Red Button – By pressing the red button, your loved one can generate an alarm call. The red button is identified as the ‘Help’ button. The alarm unit will announce “Do not worry, your alarm telephone is dialling for assistance.” This then dials through to our monitoring centre, who will arrange for any assistance that is needed.

Green Button – The green ‘cancel’ button can be used to stop any alarm call from dialling through if the alarm has been activated by accident. If needed, wait five seconds after the alarm help button has been pressed and then press cancel. The unit will announce “The alarm call has been cancelled.”

However, please do not worry if the alarm is activated accidentally. Our monitoring team are always happy to hear from you and raising the alarm is a useful test.

Yellow Button – This is known as the ‘Home/Away’ button. This can be used if your loved one will be away from home for a long period of time. When this button is pressed, our team are alerted and will not be concerned if they don’t hear from your loved one for a few weeks. Remember – If the yellow button is pressed when ‘away’, it is important to press again when back home.

Pendant Button

The small and discreet pendant will be worn by the alarm user. This will allow them to raise a call for help, simply by pressing the red button on the pendant.

The pendant button operates on the 869MHz dedicated social alarm frequency. This enables the alarm to send a radio signal through to the Careline alarm unit, which in-turn raises a call to the monitoring team.

The pendant offers a variety of easy to change wearing options:

Wrist strap – A soft hypoallergenic, elasticated strap with a clasp.
Neck Cord – With a safety break link.
Belt clip – Allowing the alarm user to attach the pendant to their clothing.
Easy Press Adaptor – An option for those with limited dexterity.
Key Ring – Enables the pendant to be attached to keys.

Who is the Pendant for?

The pendant button is ideal for a range of different people and for different reasons:

Elderly, frail or disabled people.
Individuals who are at risk of domestic violence
Someone who has been released from hospital and needs additional support. Either temporarily or long-term.
People of any age, living along who would like more security.
